Can I keep my current phone number?
In most cases, yes. We port your existing number over so the people who call you never know anything changed. We’ll confirm your number is portable when you sign up.
Will my phone work during a power outage?
Here’s the honest answer: because fiber phone runs on electricity and your internet equipment, it needs both to be working — so unlike an old copper line, it won’t run on its own during an extended outage. A battery backup (UPS) on your equipment will keep it going for a while, and we’re glad to talk through options. We always recommend keeping a charged mobile phone as your storm backup, too.
Does 911 work?
Yes — 911 calling is supported, tied to your service address. As with any phone that runs on power and internet, it needs both up to work, which is one more reason to keep a charged mobile on hand during outages.
Can I keep using my own phones?
Yes. Your own corded or cordless phones plug right into the fiber equipment we install — just pick up the handset and you’ll hear a familiar dial tone. (You supply the phone itself; any standard home phone works.)
Do I need internet to have phone service?
Yes — our phone service rides the same Axiom fiber as your internet, so it pairs with an internet plan rather than standing alone. The upside is one connection, one local provider, and one bill.
